Your privacy

Everroad is a quiet drive, and it keeps quiet about you too.

The short version

There are no accounts, no ads and no tracking cookies, and nothing about you is ever sold or shared for marketing. The game counts a few things about how it's played, without knowing who's playing. Everything else you make in the game, like your cars, saved roads, Logbook and photos, stays on your own computer.

Everroad is made by RetroDev Games, a small independent studio in New Zealand. If you have a question about any of this, write to us at [email protected].

How the game is played

When you visit everroad.app or play in your browser, the game sends us small anonymous counts, so we can see what people enjoy and what needs work. Things like how far you drove and for how long, which car, landscape, season and weather you chose, whether you were on a phone, tablet or computer, which browser you use, and the name of the website that sent you here.

None of it is linked to you. We use no cookies and keep nothing on your device for it, and we never store your internet address. To count visitors, each day the server mixes your address with a secret code that changes daily, and the code from the day before is deleted, so a visit can't be traced back to you or followed from one day to the next.

If your browser asks sites not to track you (Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control), nothing is sent at all. The desktop app doesn't send these counts either. Some of the totals appear on our public stats page.

Feedback you send us

If you send feedback from the game's menu, we receive your message and anything you choose to add. That can be your name or Discord name, a screenshot of your drive, and details about the game and your device, such as the road you were on, your car and settings, your browser and screen size. Each of those extras is up to you.

Feedback arrives in a private channel on our Discord server, where only we read it, so Discord holds it for us under its own privacy policy. We use it to fix and improve the game. Ask us and we'll delete anything you sent.

Driving with friends

In the desktop app, driving together happens through Steam. The friends in your convoy see your Steam name, your car and where it is on the road, and what you're up to, like taking photos or customizing. All of it travels through Steam's own network, so nobody in the convoy sees your internet address, and we don't keep any of it. Steam's privacy policy covers what Steam does.

If you have Discord open, the desktop app can show what you're doing in Everroad on your Discord profile, like the landscape you're driving through and how long you've been on the road. It talks only to the Discord app on your own computer. You can turn it off in Settings, under Interface.

What stays with you

Your settings, garage, saved roads, Logbook and the photos in it are kept on your device and never sent to us. In a browser they live in that browser's storage for play.everroad.app, and clearing your browsing data for the site removes them. The desktop app keeps them in its own folder, and saves full-size photos to your Pictures folder.

Other services

Our pages load their fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google for them like on many sites. The server that hosts everroad.app keeps short-lived logs of the pages it serves, including internet addresses, which help keep it running and secure. Links to Discord, Steam or anywhere else take you to sites with their own privacy policies.

Your rights and changes

Under New Zealand's Privacy Act, and similar laws where you live, you can ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. The play counts are anonymous, so there's nothing in them we could find for you, but anything you sent us, like feedback, we can.

Everroad is for everyone, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If this page ever changes, the new version will be here, with its date below.
